My Reaper’s Daughter

Mystery Butler is a widow. She is a black woman living in a place with racism. She is returning home, to Vircars, where she was raised, with her six year old daughter Valda. She needs to find work and help raising her daughter. Mystery is attracted to Glyn from the moment they met but is cautious about getting involved with Glyn.

Glyn Kullen is a Reaper. While having one of the worst days of his life he meets Mystery and her daughter Valda. He is enchanted by them as they do not fear him as the other people of Terra do. Mystery and her daughter awaken feelings in Glyn that he does not want to feel. Valda makes him smile while he is attracted to Mystery. Glyn does not want a mate and tries to fight his feelings Mystery.

Trouble is brewing. People are disappearing all over Terra. Glyn and his fellow reapers are sent on the trail. The trail leads to the territory of Vircars where the reapers find evil like they have never faced before. Not only does Glyn have to fight evil forces out to kill the reapers but he has to fight forces trying to prevent him and Mystery from being together. For Mystery and Glyn to be together they have to overcome a multitude of obstacles; jealousy, racism and surviving the evil out to kill Glyn and take over Terra.

My Reaper’s Daughter is number six in the WesternWind series and my favorite so far. The addition of Valda adds humor and an emotional edge. I felt like I was revisiting families and making new friends. We had a visit from all the characters from the previous WesternWind series. We finally had a visit from Owen and Rebecca and I finally had the answer to the questions I was left with at the end of Tears of a Reaper. Charlotte Boyett-Compo once again writes an amazing, captivating and action filled story. She has manages to keep the level of excitement and quality of writing as high if not better with each subsequent book. I was kept on my seat as I read along. The plot of the story is a little complicated, “twisted” I can say, with the multiple evil after the reapers. I could go on and on about how wonderful this story is but will conclude buy saying My Reaper’s Daughter is the perfect blend of what I would call a feel good story and action that keeps you at the edge of your seat action. This is my favorite book in the WesternWind series so far and I cannot wait for the other installments.
