Hocus Pocus
Hocus Pocus is the first book of a new Spellbound Series by Rhonda Plummer. The series features a set of sisters with unique gifts and an ancient family curse. Each sister has some sort of psychic gift but if they use it for evil or only personal gain or if they make love to anyone other than their fated mate, they lose their powers forever. Wow that sure makes things difficult in modern times with our relaxed moral code and general disbelief in things that are unexplained.
In Hocus Pocus, a well meaning aunt of the sisters, Aunt Pesty, has apparently cast a spell to move fate along a little faster for her niece Ginger Prescott and Cole Young’s Uncle Martin may be involved in this situation too. Aunt Pesty’s spells often go awry and cause unforeseen chaos but this time a simple thing like pushing fate may have caused a dangerous situation for Ginger. Something or someone is threatening Ginger first in her dreams and then in real life. Ginger’s talent is to see and talk to spirits and someone wants to find Ginger and use her gift for evil. Cole is a pediatric cardiologist with his own burdens to bear. Is Cole part of the problem or part of the solution for Ginger? Ginger and Cole are attracted to one another but Ginger’s fated mate couldn’t be someone incapable of believing in her gifts and a mistake with Cole isn’t worth the loss of her powers. Is Cole the right man for Ginger or has her aunt’s meddling thrown her future off course? Can a rational, medical doctor come to believe in things that are unexplained or is all of this just a huge scam of some sort?
I loved Hocus Pocus! The three sisters are funny, intelligent, strong women who are not ashamed of who they are. They have been given incredible gifts and bear tremendous responsibilities for using these gifts wisely. Cole and his family are also strong, caring, loyal people who watch out for their family members. I really enjoyed not only the main characters in this story but many of the secondary characters are fun to, especially some of the “spirits!” Ms. Plummer is a talented story teller and I can’t wait to read the stories of the other sisters in this series. If you are looking for an intriguing romantic suspense filled with not only action, mystery, and romance but also humor, you will not be disappointed in Hocus Pocus!
