Sir James Drummond was falsely accused of murder. He is back to reclaim his land, title and his daughter. James goes undercover at Dunncraig Keep to look for evidence to clear his name. Donnell MacKay is now the Laird and his cousin, Annora takes care of Meggie, James’ daughter but she finds herself attracted to James. The feeling is mutual but can this relationship succeed when there are so many problems surrounding it.

Highland Wolf is the newest book in this series by Ms. Howell. It has two likable characters in James and Annora. James is a great hero. He has been put through the wringer yet he still retains his honor. He wants to help his people, his daughter and Annora . Annora is a lovely heroine. She is gentle and kind. Annora fiercely protects Meggie. She is the only reason why she stays at Dunnraig. James and Annora are lovely together. The story sparkles when they are featured. The reader can feel the chemistry between them. The secondary characters are a wonderful addition to the storyline. They keep the reader involved and reading when the main couple is not on the page.

Ms. Howell knows the Scottish highlands. From her descriptions to the use of the language, the reader is swept back in time. It is quite easy to visualize how it was in those days. Highland Wolf is another fine addition to this series which must number over fifteen by now. If you enjoy your hero with a Scottish brogue and brave lasses, you will love her books.
