Jill Danvers is heading back to her roots. She left Bluebonnet Falls when her parents passed away and she the man she gave her virginity to, married someone else. Jill is doing a series of articles for Life magazine and she is going to cover the bicentennial celebration of the town. It is inevitable that she will see Gabriel Carter again as he is in charge of the steering committee.

Jill wants to believe she has conquered her past but it is apparent from the start that she has a way to go. Her heart still belongs to Gabriel. She is successful in her career but going home brings back some of her insecurities. Gabriel is also successful in his career. He is divorced and still has feelings for Jill. The author does a great job of bringing these two together again. The physical chemistry is amazing between them thus the erotic action is sizzling. This reader enjoyed all the facets to their relationship but we liked it the most when they were actually communicating.

Night Heat is an entertaining story with past lovers reconnecting again. Jill and Gabriel is one hot couple that will definitely ratchet up the temperature in any room. The characters are fully realized. They feel like a real couple and their emotions are believable. There are other characters including a vindictive ex in the picture; they add to the richness of the story, giving us some more action and an extremely satisfying ending. This reader will definitely look out for more books by Ms. Holt.
