Anna’s Secret

After his wife’s death, Kelly McWinter quit the police force and moved out to the country town of Indian Creek where he works as a security guard for the local flea market. He likes the simple life he leads now but that all changes one night when he discovers the body of Anna Davis as he was making his final rounds.

The police officer in charge of investigating Anna’s murder is none other than Kelly’s old partner Gus. When Gus starts looking at Kelly’s friend Cam who owns the local bar, as the murderer, Cam talks Kelly into investigating on his behalf and Gus agrees that Kelly looking into things might be a good idea.

Kelly’s investigation starts with Anna’s long lost daughter Krystal who shows up the day Anna was murdered and who Kelly grows really close to but just as he’s starting to think that he might love her, the investigation takes a new turn as another body is found.

Anna’s Secret by Jude Atkins is a mystifying tale with several twists and turns and an ending that surprised me. This book has an old-fashioned detective story feel to it that is charming and complements the small town atmosphere.

While I did get stuck by a couple of points made in this tale, I did feel like the story had a good flow, with well fleshed out characters and I would look forward to reading more suspense from this author. 4 Angels!
