Shadow Destroyers: Resurrection
Jordan McAdam knows better than anyone that happily ever after is just for fairytales. After overcoming a less than stellar childhood, she thinks she finally has a chance at grabbing the brass ring. Only before she grabs it, her world is ripped apart when her lover dies in her arms. The victims of a senseless attack, she makes it her mission to hunt and destroy the very things that killed her future. As each battle passes and one more demon is stopped, Jordan believes there are no surprises left for her, until she looks up into the eyes of the man who died in her arms.
Gage Campbell knew Jordan was still out there somewhere, but he never expected to see her battling the demons he tracked. Now when their paths cross again, can he explain his five years of silence? More importantly, can he walk away a second time?
Shadow Destroyers: Resurrection is an excellent beginning charged with passion, power, and a stellar plot. Sydney Somers immediately embroils readers in the undercurrents of a dark world most humans don’t see. The story development is well done. Readers begin with one act, and just like the characters, are thrust believably into a world ripe with demons and hunters. I personally loved the fight scenes and continual build-up to the end. The author uses descriptive imagery to lure readers into the setting to further see and feel what the characters live. Yet the characters are what really make this story stand out. Jordan and Gage are both dynamic fighters. Their attraction is undeniable, but their past and present create a conflict they must resolve in addition to the threat building around them. The sexual tension between them is fairly explosive. Yet is it balanced by the depth of caring they have for each other. I enjoyed witnessing the tender side of Gage. The gentle touches, caresses given in comfort and caring were just as stirring as the more passionate moments between them. They are joined by a cast of secondary characters that ensure this story never stops and has this reviewer anxiously waiting to see what happens next.
