Under Control
Tommy Idaho has spent most of his adult life ignoring the powers he was born with. He has no desire to use them, good, bad, or otherwise. Unfortunately, his choice doesn’t seem to sit well with some people. Sloane Marshall‘s job is to find individuals like him, train them, and if all goes well, convince them to join a guild of good guys. Even if she can’t sway Tommy’s decision to use his powers, she hopes she can at least keep him safe from her nemesis. Neither of them expects the rapport or chemistry that flares between them despite the danger surrounding them.
With a real comic book feel, Under Control is a fast paced, fun read. The story opens with plenty of teasers and hooks to pull readers quickly into the plot. From there, the action and connection between Tommy and Sloane intensifies. The camaraderie and trust between them is believable and makes it easy for readers to like both characters. I enjoyed how the author blends their developing relationship into the action and suspense of the plot. When their chemistry finally flares, the intensity of their lovemaking boosts the heat factor up a notch and will have readers hoping these two find a way to be together. The story draws to a close with plenty of action, a few surprises, and this reviewer’s appreciation for just how much imagination Ms. Damschroder puts into each story.
