Gryphon’s Quest
Gryphon O'Connor is the only one of his kind. An accident that occurred before his birth has meant that Gryphon is now an outcast in his community. Gryphon’s parents, Gwyneth and James, hold themselves responsible for Gryphon’s ‘condition’, and try and make him feel as normal as possible. This is not easy since their entire order shuns him. The only one who does not shun Gryphon is the leader of their order, the Sorceress, and it is her that Gryphon now works for. The latest mission the Sorceress wants Gryphon to do could be his most deadly but whilst on it Gryphon will begin to understand more about himself and learn about the outside world.
Gryphon’s Quest has all the ingredients of a great fantasy novel. Candace Sams has produced a wonderfully textured book with roots found in the ancient world of the druids and the Celts around Britain. Readers will definitely find themselves lost in this story and will find themselves falling for the main character while learning to despise the coldness of the Sorceress. This book has a good fluid pace that speeds up and slows down as required allowing the story to leap off the pages.
I really enjoyed reading this book and I can not wait to see what Candace Sams has to offer next, especially with regards to the Tales of the Order series.
