The Lady’s Bargain

Lady Christine Claiborne is on the run from a forced marriage by posing as a governess to a hellion. It isn’t long before she finds herself in an unexpected predicament, stuck in a tree. When William Preston, Lord Kingston, comes to her rescue she soon learns she ran to the one place she should have been running from, her intended’s home. William soon discovers that the governess is none other than his brother’s fiancée. However, neither can fight the attraction between them, but when his brother comes home, Christine must uphold their wedding arrangements. Is it too late for William to have Christine as his own?

Mrs. Dicken has done an excellent job creating The Lady’s Bargain. Christine is a very strong female who only wants to marry for love. Unfortunately, during those times a husband was normally chosen for the woman. William has always felt inferior to his older brother, and readers will empathize with him. The attraction between the two is conceivable and has us cheering for a chance for both William and Christine. The brother’s return home will have you holding your breath wondering what will happen next. This quick story is a pleasurable read and fans of historical romance should definitely give Mrs. Dicken a chance.
