Divine Attraction

Dominique Gabor needs a baby sitter-pronto! She has just received a promotion to swing shift bartender at the casino where she works, and she has to have the increased income in order to make ends meet for herself and her five year old son, Kalvin. She is shocked when gorgeous Joshua Divine shows up for the job. She can't understand why the man would want the work, until he explains that he is a university student, working towards a degree in child psychology and needs experience other than that which he has had with his own younger siblings. She agrees to hire him, despite her misgivings about her attraction to him. She can only hope his status as a broke student living at home, with a girlfriend already, not to mention his strange disdain for her job, will put a halt to those feelings.

What she doesn't know is that Joshua comes from one of the richest families in the state, making him independently wealthy, as opposed to living at home on charity. Despite his best attempts to maintain a relationship with his jealous, self-interested girlfriend, his preoccupation with Dominique puts an end to that. What he needs to do is get over is his tangled emotions about her job, which stem from the murder of his fiancée and their unborn child while she was working as a bartender. One night of passionate lovemaking with Dominique clears his head, but she is not so eager to surrender the independence she has worked so long and hard to achieve.

In Divine Attraction, Ms. Ramagos accurately portrays the struggle for a working mother trying to provide the best care for her child on a limited income. Had Dominique had unlimited resources, she would have had more options. However, she would have also missed out on having Joshua show up at her door…and he is indeed divine! He conquers his emotions of loss and anger about his painful past, and recognizes them for memories that needn't rule his life. Charming, loving, and respectful, he is determined to break down Dominique's own barriers of resentment and abandonment for both Kalvin's father and her own, and to make her admit their feelings for each other go way beyond simple attraction. Ms. Ramagos has created a wonderful heart-warming romance, treating the increasing sexual attraction and resulting tension with a sensitive, knowledgeable hand. We should all be so lucky to have a man answer an ad who has a body to die for, a smile to live for, and a love of children, which cannot be paid for! Five Angels!
