Tirana has been duped into leading a team of scientists and soldiers onto the face of the planet Samhain. Trying to find out what happened to two previous missions to the planet, she is confronted with maniacal soldiers and their corrupt leader. The strikingly handsome Loren rescues Tirana from the middle of a deadly laserfight, but with her life in danger can she trust anyone? Let alone an indigenous man with his own agenda?

In a short fifty-nine pages, Cassandra Kane has laid out an intricate world with two separate beliefs and an intriguing concept. Tirana is a strong woman who doubts herself more than anything and Loren is a wonderfully flawed hero. I loved the fact that he was not perfect and that his reactions were more realistic than most you find in romance novels and erotica. With a deft hand, the planet of Samhain becomes a fully realized world with its own rules and people. I hope that we will be able to revisit the planet in some capacity further down the line. I would love to read more about the backstory of the differences between the Priests and the True People. While only touched upon in this novella, they intrigued me.
