One Last Look

When pregnant defense attorney Clare Westbrook follows her homicide detective fiancé, Tony Sonterra, to take the position of Chief in the small town of Dry Creek she isn’t keen on leaving Phoenix and her law practice nor expecting the excitement that ensues. Clare’s niece and ward, Emma, a sophisticated 14 year old, and at times more the adult than any of them, tags along to keep an eye on Clare. Loretta, Clare’s best friend, finds her husband in a tough situation and joins Clare in the not-so-quiet-town of Dry Creek.

Between Clare’s premonition-like dreams and someone trying to run her off the road…more than once she’s up to her eyeballs in detective work. Of course, Sonterra isn’t happy with Clare and her behind the scenes antics. Dry Creek has more secrets than even Sonterra could imagine. Together they figure out the mysterious killings and make an incredible team.

Clare’s view of life inside her head or saying it aloud, the bad and comedic is fresh and it makes the reader commiserate with the character as well as want to shout “You go girl!”. The balance that Linda Lael Miller is able to produce between the suspense, romance, and the relationships the characters tie in is awesome. One Last Look is the last book of the trilogy of Clare and Sonterra and the ending is terrific but leaves you wanting more! I will definitely be reading the first two in the trilogy. Ms. Miller’s writing style and character detail has made we want to find out how they begin. You’re in for a real treat will One Last Look.
