The Bloodmoon Curse
After four miscarriages and now the strain of losing her unborn child, Amberlyn Lyons is fed up with her marriage to Cain. If his harassing mother had only left well enough alone then perhaps their marriage would not have suffered. Amberlyn is not responsible for the loss of her child, and Cain’s constant cold rejection doesn’t make things any better. She is good at being a maternity nurse and is an experienced ER nurse but when she accidentally slipped on the icy pavement, some claim she was immediately responsible for the loss of her unborn baby. After searching the ads for employment elsewhere, she takes a job as caretaker for three recently orphaned children. Amberlyn knew that going to Bloodmoon Cove would be a new life for her and although she still held some feelings for Cain, to keep what sanity she had left, she decided to leave. After accepting the position of caretaker, she soon learns that the Bloodmoon Manor holds a legend of being haunted. When she begins to hear strange sounds and discovers that many infants have died at birth and were buried in the nearby cemetery, the curse is almost too much for her to bear. She considers finding her way back home to Cain and trying to salvage anything in their marriage but the more the thoughts run through her mind, the more danger lurks for her.
The Bloodmoon Curse is an intriguing read that sent spine-tingling sensations through this reader. I could feel the helplessness that Amberlyn felt with the loss of her babies, and the way Cain and his mother treated her was very unfair. I wanted to reach through the pages and offer her help. The story was so engaging that I couldn’t stop reading. The ambience and mood of the surrounding events, especially at Bloodmoon Manor, was quite exciting. Ms. Wiesner makes the manor, along with the cemetery, so visual that I could almost feel and see the sights and sounds encircling Amberlyn. She allows this reader to sense the emotions and dread that lace the pages. This captivating read kept this reader practically hypnotized with all the actions. Unique and wonderfully written, this is one satisfying tale that this reader highly recommends. The story flows so consistently that the ending was something I never anticipated. Bravo to Ms. Wiesner for one story that I find a recommended read. I absolutely loved the cover, too.
