Roughhousing
Roughhousing by Laura Baumbach is a sequel to her earlier book A Bit of Rough.
Jamie and Bram have come a long way in their relationship. Jamie has finally gathered up the courage and invited Bram to his office party, after his boss talked to Jamie about his own non-traditional marriage. At the party, Bram is watching Jamie talk with one of his co-workers, Stella, while he fends off the advances from another worker who has no idea of who Bram is or his relationship with Jamie. Jamie looks across the room and the heated look between them is clear even to Stella in her tipsy state. Jamie is still unsure about the strength of Bram’s feelings, but by the end of the night, after a very heated love scene, Bram’s feelings are crystal clear to Jamie. During dinner, Bram talks to Jamie’s boss and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Dunn, about Bram's parents who were friends and colleagues of the Dunns. Bram tells Mr. Dunn about some work on a project that Jamie had done on his own and Mr. Dunn asks Jamie to bring it in for him to see. Jamie and Bram return home and once again Bram reminds Jamie who he belongs to, but Jamie also reminds Bram who he wants to be with. Jamie is slowing, but surely opening up, but he has to overcome his rejection by his family over his sexual orientation. Will Jamie find a way to conquer his feelings of self-doubt and distrust in other peoples motives to gain a bright future with Bram? Or will Jamie’s family once again have a hand in separating Jamie from the one he loves?
Once again, Ms. Baumbach has brought to life the wonderful characters of Bram and Jamie to her readers. Bram and Jamie are each one half of a whole and all they need to do is work through there own problems so they can truly be happy. Bram has a very strong personality and he needs someone who will allow him to dominate, at least in the bedroom, which makes Jamie ideal for him. Jamie wants someone who will take control in many aspects while letting him make his own decisions. When Jamie and Bram get together it is like lighting a match to gasoline, the scene is enjoyable for both Jamie and Bram as well as the reader. Thanks go to Ms. Baumbach for writing this sequel that the readers have been dying to read, including this reviewer!
