In The Wash: The Rona Shively Stories
Single, thirty-eight-year old private investigator Rona Shively finds her next case through her good friend Norm. Norm, a car salesman, and all around nice guy sends clients to Rona on occasion. This case turns out to be more than Rona or Norm could ever bargain for.
Gil Delvecchio is the client looking for his ex-wife. His ex-wife is now a male. Don’t ask. It’s a long story. Rona believes Gil is being followed and the mob could be following her also.
As Rona delves into this case she taps into one of her sources and friends. One friend in particular, Kimball, had been Rona’s cellmate for three months. She’s one of Rona’s trusted source and only girl friend. When Kimball is involved and in danger because of Rona, she steps up the detective process and learns that one of her neighbors may not be all that that they seem to be. In fact, it’s worse than what she imagined.
Rona is a tough woman who doesn’t let people get close, but finds out Norm cares more for her than just a friend. Will she let Norm in once this case is solved?
Rebecca Benston’s twists, turns, and descriptions are utterly engaging. In The Wash: The Rona Shively Stories reads like a fast paced adventure. There are many other elements packed into this ninety-two page work. Romance, sex, murder, and sarcasm from Rona’s point of view make it like nothing I’ve read before. Rebecca Benston’s In The Wash: The Rona Shively Stories is a unique and refreshing story.
