Temporally Misplaced
In 1937, as a woman studying wolves in their natural habitat in the mountains of Wyoming, Dr. Janine Harding is viewed as something of an oddity. So when she discovers a mute boy in the midst of her wolf pack, it doesn’t really faze her. Although he does not speak, Jordy does communicate and together they begin the process of getting to know each other.
Jordy’s mother, Miranda Thymes, is understandably upset when the company transporting her special child notifies her that they’ve unknowingly sent Jordy some 700 years back in time. The trip to Earth, which was supposed to help Jordy, a mute with special empathic abilities, speak has instead turned into a disaster and has made Miranda really examine her feelings. Miranda and the customer service rep from the transporting company travel back in time to find Jordy, only to discover something more.
Alan Zendell’s Temporally Misplaced is an interesting tale of lost souls finding just what they need in the midst of a crisis. Jordy is an intelligent young boy who discovers acceptance and love from a woman who never knew she had it to give. Miranda must search inside herself to see if she can give Jordy what he needs and along the way, she might just find what she needs for herself. This short, heart warming read holds a few surprises.
