Love Songs

Madison is known as the Cupcake Queen and although her bakery supplies Valentine’s treats for the town, baking for everyone else to celebrate the most romantic day of the year can be lonely, especially when the radio plays an endless stream of love songs. She’s busy, too, helping her brother care for his young daughter. Overall, she has little time for romance for herself, but when she begins to catch up with an old friend, Madison finds there may be more to Valentine’s Day than cupcakes. Cam is a musician and between his thoughtful attention and the way he sings to her, he just might change Madison’s views on Valentine’s Day, love and love songs.

I enjoyed this short story very much. It is sweet and romantic. Kayla, Madison’s little niece, is an adorable princess, and I liked the way Cam treated her as such. Even though this story is short the author took the time to make every bit of the plot have weight and value. The attention to detail, like the way Madison ices the cupcakes, makes this story stand out. Valentine’s Day takes on a new level of meaning, given the fact that it points out that not everyone is sharing the romance with someone special, and that there are people who are just trying to make it through the day as best they can. There are also people like Cam who can make a difference in someone’s life, if they’re given a chance. Love Songs sings, and M.G. Braden has done a fine job with this!
