The Lure of the Wolf
Annette Batista is searching for her sister Stefani who was a researcher for Sno – Med Corporation. She has been missing for six months, her backpack found amidst the Sacred Stones of Spirit Wind Mountain. Annette is a dedicated cardiac surgeon and feels she hadn’t done enough to care for sister as she has strived to reach her own goals. Busy with patients she didn’t return Stefani’s call the night before she disappeared, and she is suffering guilt over her inaction. In her search for her sister she has found out much about Sno – Med’s evil operations and also more about the world around her, magic is real and the paranormal abounds.
Aragon a Blood Hunter, one of Logo’s own, haunted by the betrayal of his mentor Pathos and his loss of faith in one of his brother Blood Hunters Jared, he feels a failure as leader of the Blood Hunters. Aragon in a moment of anger and despair leaves the brotherhood to hunt Pathos on his own. This causes a disruption in the spirit world although he knows he will face punishment for choosing his will over Logo’s. Leaving his amulet at the Sacred Stones leads to a course he never imagined. As the forces of evil gather on the mortal world, he vows to stop Pathos and save all the innocents he can.
This was truly a wonderful return to The Shadowmen series by Jennifer St. Giles. The Lure of the Wolf began moments in the end of Jared’s story Touch a Dark Wolf. I highly recommend this series. This was a thrilling romp through the paranormal, and not your typical werewolf story. Dr. Annette Batista is smart, tough and capable of acting quickly. (A warrior woman perhaps) Aragon is magnificently alpha and while confused by his want and need for Annette he is a man of honor. I thoroughly enjoyed my return to the Shadowmen and cannot wait for the next to hit my shelf. This author and this series are definitely on my auto – buy list.
