Dark Lord Valenth is lonely, even though he is surrounded by his evil minions that help him plot new ways to kill servants that can’t be fired (right now he is using a cannon, but that’s getting old), control the rampant unicorn population (without angering the Unicorn lovers) and improve the sewer system (a city that stinks is not evil, it’s rude). What’s a Dark Lord to do for companionship? Valenth already goes down to the army barracks in disguise to satisfy his need for physical contact, but where can he go to meet someone he can talk to? His councilor Reynard and his personal bodyguard (called the Bodyguard) propose some candidates and set up a series of blind dates. These dates could not have been more disastrous, so Valenth proposed doing what other lonely people do: place a personal ad in the circulating announcements. Oh boy, do things get interesting then…

When I picked up Dark Lord Seeks Friendship, Maybe More I was expecting a light comedy but what I really got was a book jam-packed with hilarious comedy, irony and sarcasm. Elisa Viperas did an excellent job of creating a book that will keep you turning the pages just to see what she will ridicule next through her comedy. Valenth is a wonderfully evil lord that uses murder to solve most problems – like naked female servants or a perky brother – while searching for that special “someone” that would be the perfect Dark Lord consort. The relationship between Valenth, Reynard and the Bodyguard is enormously entertaining with all the biting sarcasm and ironic comments bandied back and forth as they search for a date for Valenth. Elisa Viperas’ Dark Lord Seeks Friendship, Maybe More is a must have for anyone who loves intelligent comedy with a dash of slap-stick on the side. Get this book the next time you go shopping, you will enjoy it from start to finish. I will definitely be looking for more of Elisa Viperas’ books.
