Dancer’s Delight
Dancer’s Delight is just that—a delight! Anny Cook has written a fabulous story, complete with transitions between the everyday world and another, more intriguing, world. Devereaux is an extraordinarily talented musician, a man who plays to sellout crowds. But his friend and agent knows his concerts are just a cover for his real job. Devereaux is an assassin. One night he walks out of the concert hall after a performance, and no one can find him. He’s on his way to see Eppie, a woman he’s been communicating with—in his mind. When he nearly reaches Eppie, she informs him they are to be bond mates. That means they are to bond for life and will never be able to have sex with anyone else. Without this bond with him, Eppie will die.
Anny Cook has conjured a world that is filled with amazing characters and a valley that is so inviting, I’d love to live there myself! One of the best parts of this book is the way she’s made the characters connect so closely. Yes, they do communicate frequently with their minds, so that gives them an intimate connection. But I felt their unity on a deeper level, too. The characters in this story are bonded emotionally, and I felt that as I read this. The character of Eppie is one I especially loved. She is so realistic, in small ways that really matter. She cleans her cottage after a disappointing mind conversation with her man. That’s something I can identify with! I really enjoyed reading this book. It is entertaining and the hours flew by!
