One Knight to Cherish

One Knight to Cherish by Catherine Kean is a true love story from beginning to end. Set in England in 1192, it tells a story of knights in King Richard’s crusade, damsels in distress and the sacrifices each is willing to make for the other. Lady Roselyn Descharme is betrothed to a man she does not love, but she is willing to make the sacrifice and marry him, if only to bring peace to her dead father’s lands. Her heart belongs to Lucian, but he’s been killed in battle—hasn’t he? Lucian returns, just in time to help Roselyn find her beloved sister Eleanor. Eleanor has been kidnapped and Lucian proves just how gallant a knight he truly is.

This is a wonderful short story. Lady Roselyn and Lucian have a love that won’t die, regardless of circumstances. That closeness is shown clearly, and it brought a smile to this reader’s face. The characters are realistic, the setting so detailed it grows clearer with each word and the plot, although short, is well thought out and intricate. I loved every minute of this story. I enjoyed the short version of this tale; I would be ecstatic if it were longer still. I can only imagine what Ms. Kean could do with her characters if space were not an issue! Well done!
