Reversing Over Liberace

Reversing Over Liberace by Jane Lovering is one of the funniest books I’ve read in ages! It is smart and witty and the romantic oozes from every direction in this story. Between her handsome best friend, pregnant sister and, finally, appropriately used handcuffs, the chaos is hysterical! Willow is not the woman she was years earlier when she wanted to make a love connection with Luke. But now she’s matured and is a far cry from the chubby girl she used to be. When Luke shows up and makes his desire known, Willow is surprised, as any smart thirty-two year old woman would be. But surprise gives way and the two begin something that reveals who they both are and what each truly wants.

The comedic aspects of this story cannot be overlooked. A nose in a matchbox, siblings with weird names and unusual relationships, a place called “The Rectum” and a whole host of other laugh-out-loud bits make this book one I won’t forget. The best part is that mixed in with all the funny pieces is a beautiful love story. I wanted the two lovers (I won’t give away who Willow chooses!) to find happiness. Their history makes it possible and their willingness to see each other in a new light is heartwarming. I cheered at their first romantic connection. I was just thrilled to see them together, despite the dusty location! Reversing Over Liberace is a feel-good story, one that shows that it may take a while but eventually everyone gets what they deserve!
