Caressed by Ice
Brenna is a survivor. Nothing less can be said about the Changeling who survived the butchery of Santano Enrique. Her mind ripped open and exposed to his twisted evil, she saved her core and ultimately her sanity, but she didn't emerge unscathed. Her eyes a shattered mirror of her mind, she has been dreaming. That's not unusual, but these aren't her dreams. She was able to dismiss them as nightmares of a murder until that murder came to be. Now she's faced with the possibility that she has become something new because of her mental rape. Even dead, the rogue Psy is still hurting her and her family.
Judd is a Psy unlike any other. Trained in the arts of the assassin, he has accomplished many heinous things, but until the day his family was marked for rehabilitation, he followed orders as any good soldier would. Now, with his family safely entwined in the SnowDancer pack, he is faced with a challenge even the coldest of Psy cannot unravel. Brenna. She has decided that he is the one who can help her and save her from the terrors she is still dealing with. Even though Changeling and Psy are enemies and as close to polar opposites as possible, she needs him, especially when she's suddenly coming under fire by a mysterious enemy intent on her death.
Nalini Singh has returned to her Psy-Changeling world and has penned yet another novel that just amazes me with its intricate rules and the way that the characters interact within them. I have been an enormous fan of Ms. Singh since I was introduced to her in Slave to Sensation. Caressed by Ice has absolutely solidified that. I am fascinated with her ability to write a book with recurring characters that is, at it’s core, the same as the preceding books, but still so unique as to make the series fresh and fascinating. I am eager to read more about this world that she’s created and cannot wait for more on the NetMind.
