Making Chase
Matt Chase is the last single Chase boy. Being looked at like a decadent morsel by most of the women in Petal isn’t always a terrible thing for him, but lately he’s sick of being seen as nothing more than a shallow man willing to jump from woman to woman. He’s searching for that elusive One. The One that each of his brothers has found. When he comes to the rescue of a woman in front of the fire station where he works, there’s a zing. But can Petal handle one of their ‘royal’ Chases dating a woman from the ‘other’ side of town?
Tate Murphy is the oldest daughter of the town drunk and the town tramp. With brothers and sisters depending on her not only for support, but also for protection, she has seldom found or taken the time for herself. Now that Matt Chase has gone from her daily drool fest to an actual living, breathing boyfriend, she’s forced to defend herself and their relationship from the shallow members of Petal’s ‘high society’.
Making Chase is the last of the Chase Brothers series and is a doozy. I laughed, I cried, and boy did I gasp. The emotions were just out of control throughout this book, in a good way of course. For Ms. Dane to be able to pull all of those reactions from a reader is a testimonial to her fantastic writing skills. I couldn’t believe the sheer ugliness that some of the denizens of Petal spewed throughout the book. The courage and the strength of character that Tate showed was great and when Matt’s eyes were opened to how she was being treated? Oh wow, talk about swoon-worthy. I hated to see this wonderful family go, but the ride that I got to go on was worth it. I will definitely be revisiting the Chase family. How can you leave old friends behind?
