Relationships

Relationships is a solid, endearing short story with just the right blend of romance and friendship. Author Terry Odell has crafted two believable characters on the edge of something wonderful within the context of a plot out of real life. As Amy rushes from the library, she is only thinking of a nice weekend alone. For once, her hectic balance between work, school, and family is under control and she can take a moment for herself. Her simple wish prepares readers for the ordinary and instead Amy and readers are pleasantly surprised. After finding snow, ice, and the taillights of the last bus leaving campus, Amy rushes headlong down the stairs and into a chance encounter with Greg. This reader immediately liked Greg’s calm demeanor and teasing humor. Over the pages of an anthropology text this pair just clicks. The author continues to weave their story naturally. The development flows well and Greg and Amy’s reactions to would-be obstacles are refreshing, honest, and much more endearing for their realism. Readers looking for the freshness and nerves of a new relationship, paired with a mature couple who know what they want, won’t go wrong with Relationships.
