The Lady and the Dragon

Precocious Lady Christina Delafield will do anything to avoid Swiss boarding school, even if it means stowing away on the next ship bound for the Grand Bahamas. Learning that she’s on the Dragon’s Lair, the ship of the mysterious pirateer Black Dragon, she fears he’ll send her back to her grandfather, the Lord Admiral of the British Navy, or worse, hold her for ransom. Not wanting to give her real identity away she gives the Black Dragon her name simply as Lillianne.

Drexell Cain has spent several years as the infamous Black Dragon searching for his twin brother Ryan, who’s being held captive by the British Navy. He’s made a promise to Ryan’s wife that he’ll return Ryan to her and their son. He’ll never give up on his quest, even if it means kidnapping the granddaughter of the Lord Admiral of the British Navy. Now he has a pretty stowaway on his ship and while a distraction, he’s not to be deterred, until she claims his heart. Then he learns her identity and it puts a whole new spin on his plans.

I was absolutely entranced by The Lady and the Dragon! The combination of Christina’s feistiness and innocence was so beguiling. I found myself laughing at her impulsiveness and her quest for adventure. Drex was mysterious and sexy, and yet, the vulnerability I saw in him was endearing. The sexual tension between Christina/Lilli and Drex was palpable. What made it even more magnetic was the connection these two shared.

When Drex found out Lilli’s true identity, I held my breath, not sure what would happen next. Shelley Bradley did not disappoint. Conflict always spices up a romance and Ms. Bradley provided it in abundance. All good things come to an end, but I was incredibly saddened to read the last page of The Lady and the Dragon. I wanted the story of Drex and Lilli to continue on. I loved this story and recommend it heartily. Pick up your copy today!
