Hiring Cupid

Carly Mason has learned a thing or two from her mother and sisters about men and love. Don’t get involved, it can only break your heart. So when she’s lured by a group of friends into discussing men and boyfriends, Carly does what any woman would do, she makes up a boyfriend. But when a tropical island trip is planned, she’s got to produce this fictitious man. Again, she does what any woman would do, she hires a gigolo! Marco is a man any woman would be thrilled to have accompany her on an island vacation. Handsome and constantly uttering sweet nothings in Italian, he is a true hero. But he has a few hidden issues, as well.

The pairing of Carly and Marco is perfect, and their interaction is both entertaining and heartwarming. Carly is amusing, with a sharp wit, which seems to be her best defensive barrier in the beginning of this book. It is fun to watch her character evolve, and to see the relationship between these two grow. Their sexual interaction is appropriate for the story. Marco’s caring attitude in this area made me smile. He’s the kind of lover every woman deserves! The story is detailed and the setting described so fully I felt like I was right there on the beach with the couple. All in all, this book has all bases covered. It’s just really great storytelling.

Hiring Cupid by Jane Beckenham is one of the most entertaining books I’ve read recently. It is a delight, and I know I’ll read it again in the near future, just to experience this love story again.
