A Few Good Men

Maureen Mullen, aka Summer Winters, writer of erotic romance and editor for a publishing firm is unhappy in her day job and awaiting the day her writing will support her. Summer belongs to one of the Support the Troops in Iraq groups and is a pen pal to some of the soldiers. Her personal life is not going anywhere, her past dates have been losers and talking to the soldiers through email has become the highlight of her day.

Staff Sergeant John Blake, head of a tank company in Iraq has been in the Army for many years. He has little family left in the states and the Army has been his world. John does a favor for Jazzy, one of the soldiers under his command, by letting a pen pal know Jazzy was injured but will be emailing her soon. John also writes to thank her for her support of his group by sending the coffee and items they can’t get. This emailing leads him into an unexpected relationship.

Cat Johnson takes a realistic look at deployed military life in Iraq with A Few Good Men. Her attention to detail in the hardships our troops live through daily can only make you appreciate our military more. Cat Johnson’s male characters embody all the talents and traits we’ve come to expect from strong, noble men who are willing to fight for our rights and freedoms. Her female character was displayed with emotion and empathy. I thoroughly enjoyed A Few Good Men and will be looking for others in her military series.
