Carpe Nocturne 2: Kiss Me, Kill Me

Carpe Nocturne 2: Kiss Me, Kill Me by Tawny Taylor is the sequel to Carpe Nocturne: Dressed To Kill and carries on the story of Sylvie Durand, new owner of a club drowning in debt and recently the site of a murder.

As the Exoluni are closing in on Burke Langton, their best suspect. Sylvia does what she can to protect her Origo and convince Miko the third in their triad that Burke is innocent. Miko must fight his instincts to commit to Sylvia and Burke and do his job to find the serial killer, albeit Burke or another.

Burke must let Sylvia leave him to protect her, believing that Miko will keep her safe. As they all fight to keep from the binding it becomes more painful and confusing as time goes on. Miko has the most to accept and also, career wise, the most to lose, while Burke is feeling that the end is near.

Sylvie has come to terms with the knowledge that there are things that go bump in the night, vampires are real, and her feelings for two men though unbelievable, is a fact. Sylvie knows the details against Burke now and while they appear insurmountable she believes in his innocence and knows he holds no danger for her.

I believe Tawny Taylor has an excellent plot line in her Carpe Nocturne series, this episode, Carpe Nocturne 2: Kiss Me Kill Me, deals more with the characters’ emotions although the plot does move forward. We do meet the actual bad guy in this installment and he is disturbing to say the least. This series must be read in order, and I am looking forward to the next installment.
