Annmarie McKenna has another hot one with Checkmate, continuing the Graham family of shapeshifters. Eli Graham is a shapeshifter an alpha wolf whose brother is Prime and runs the pack, as Second he has a lot of responsibilities to the pack and also running the security business he and his brother own. Nikki Taylor has loved Eli since she was in high school and he was her brother’s best friend. Nikki has heard the rumors about the Grahams, but they are so far fetched she doesn’t believe them. Eli has been away for eight months and many things have ensued since he’s been away. Nikki has changed, she barely survived an attack and car accident and the day before he gets home more trouble has arisen. Eli has known Nikki was his mate for a few years now but has not approached her because of the difference in their ages. He had planned to before this last assignment and decided to wait until he returned. Is it too late, has Nikki changed too much?

Checkmate carries on an outstanding storyline, following Seeing Eye Mate, Eli’s brother Caelan’s story. These books can be read as singles with no problem. I know, however, once you’ve met the characters you will want them all, they are so wonderful. Annmarie McKenna is an awesome talent and I have fallen in love with her characters. Her plots are twisted and the terror happening can be intense. You might think you know who the bad guy is but…. I doubt it. Check out this awesome author and definitely check out the Grahams.
