The Other Side of Silence

Roger Macleod faced the hangman’s noose, and all he could think about on his walk of death was the young woman who had so innocently risked her life for his. He hadn’t been in love with her at the time but looking back he wished he had another chance to love her because this time he would…

Sunny O’Connell could not believe her luck. First off a storm the night before threw a tree branch down in her driveway and now her neighbors thought to call on her ex-husband to help her. Upon his arrival she can’t help but notice the handsome stranger who sends intimate sparks her way right from the beginning. Then Scott has surprising news and his subsequent actions shock Sunny, but it isn’t long before the sparks between her and the stranger blaze into a roaring fire. Will Sunny run from him once the truth comes out or is she willing to take the risk on what could be a love of a lifetime?

This short story packs a big bang for its size because it has it all, mystery, love and at least one good suspenseful scene. The ending was definitely not what readers will expect but it does pack enough punch for this book and these characters to remain fresh in your mind for quite some time. Celia Ashley did an excellent job in creating Roger, who was a hero with no past, yet tender enough to make one not care where and when he came from. Sunny was also developed well and seemed to handle all the surprising twists and turns life threw at her admirably. The Other Side of Silence is definitely a short story readers will enjoy!
