The Girl Hunter
Bailey Simmons is a detective with the Palm Beach Police, but for the time being he has taken a leave of absence. It has been over a year since the accident but the thought of it was still a mental challenge. It was bad turn of events that after the search warrant was executed, the mobile home exploded from to a meth lab inside, landing him in the hospital. The scars on his face and arms were a constant reminder of it. Now he spends his days trying to sort out his life, and since it is the first of September, that means it is alligator hunting season in Florida. As he gets on board the airboat, he sees a body not too far from the swampy area. The woman is hurt badly and Bailey calls 911 for help.
Katya Black cannot remember who beat her so savagely. She was only trying to get away from her ex-husband after the divorce. The divorce lawyer made sure she would never want for money again, yet a few months later, she is lying in the hospital, lucky to be alive. She is glad that Bailey is there for her while she is in the hospital and hopes that whoever tried to kill her is far away in another country. Bailey refuses to allow any more harm to come to Kat. From the moment he saw her lying in the weeds, he felt something for her. She gives him reason to go on living. He has been deeply hurt from his accident. Kat has had her share of sorrows too, but feels comfort when with Bailey. With her attacker still waiting in the wings, Bailey must work around the clock to keep her safe at any costs as their attraction grows stronger.
As soon as I started reading The Girl Hunter, I fell in love with the book. Bailey and Kat face many obstacles and take the reader on their emotional roller coaster ride that makes the heart leap with joy. Bailey and Kat are refreshing characters that have caring hearts. Their passion speaks in their words, their eye contact and in every page. Ms. McCann weaves a fascinating story that is believable in every sense. She creates two loving people who were meant to be together, but first must get rid of past issues standing in their way. She depicts friction and discord in a realistic read that absorbs the reader. I found Bailey’s and Kat’s story compelling and one hard to put down. With a sprinkle of romance and intrigue, she forms a story that is one recommended read that is hard to forget.
