The Legends of Mynos Book II: The Wolverine and the Jewel
All Sir Sebastian of Tabrinth wanted was to visit the small pond near the castle and take a swim. Instead, he is stuck on a scouting mission with Sir Duncan not too far behind. Duncan is an inexperienced Wolverine and Sebastian took him under his wing, hoping to make a man of him. As the two make their rounds, they find a severely beaten woman lying face down in the grass. She has no recollection of her name or what happened. Seeing a lavender gem around her neck, Sebastian calls her his Jewel and from then on, refers to her as Jewel. Sebastian takes her to the castle to Lady Arianna who is known for her healing powers. He decides to protect her and vows to kill the coward who took advantage of a defenseless woman. Lady Arianna feels that Jewel holds some kind of power with the lavender crystal around her neck. She instructs Sebastian to keep a close eye on Jewel. It is rumored that Jewel fits the description of the maiden betrothed to Lord Merric of Westchester who suddenly disappeared on her wedding day. When Sebastian informs Jewel of the information, she is terrified. Sebastian feels if he marries Jewel it will ease the situation. Lord Merric is furious and challenges Sebastian to the death to regain his betrothed. Jewel refuses to be with Lord Merric. With the lavender crystal around her neck, Jewel can only hope it will unlock the mystery so that she can reclaim her memory and keep Sebastian in her life.
The emotion, the romance and the love of two breathtaking characters entice the reader and draws one into the storyline in The Legends of Mynos: The Wolverine and the Jewel. I could feel Jewel’s pain and Sebastian’s desire to find a way to make her happy. The way he wishes to release the bitterness that she has suffered was so noble. Lord Merric makes a great villain, which gives depth to the plot. This poignant read captivated this reader. The characters dance right off the pages and deeply touch the heart. Rebecca Goings’ talented storytelling spins a remarkable read that depicts a time and place that becomes real with each turn of the page. This story follows The Wolverine and the Rose, and practically leaves the reader breathless from passion that explodes in the pages. I find this precious gem a most recommended read.
