After Midnight is the 2nd book in the After Dark series by Luisa Prieto. It can be read as is but would possibly be enhanced if read in order.

This story is about a Mage and a Werewolf, both new to their gifts and still exploring their powers. As Devon and Andrew continue to explore their potential, each must face emotional challenges as well as bigotry and violence. Supernatural darkness encroaches and they must learn how to protect themselves and each other. As the darkness grips Andrew nothing will stop Devon from saving him.

This story is homoerotic with light BDSM. Luisa Prieto writes a gripping and compelling story. The love scenes are warm and rich with emotion and caring. I held my breath and gasped at times. The twists and turns in this story are edgy and quick. The tension is heavy with few light moments. It had me speeding to the finish. The villain in this novel is multi-faceted and will keep you guessing. Devon and Andrew are incredible characters who are continuing to learn and grow. The depth of compassion and caring they share for each other, and the protectiveness of their family is undeniable.
