Slow Fires

Mia wasn’t expecting to receive anything other than some kilns, but when the delivery truck finally turns up, she finds herself with two rather sexy looking potters. To her surprise she finds that they both seem interested in her and her work, but how can she choose between them? Or maybe, she doesn’t have to choose...

Slow Fires is a book about polyamory, the literal meaning of which is many loves. It is also a book about the coming together of ideas and the use of each person’s strengths to create something totally unique. Sarah Black has also used the book to explore the reactions people who live in a polyamorus relationship face. Ms. Black has written a story full of characters that have great depth, and even those readers who are not sure about the idea of someone being with more then one person at once will feel for the characters and will gain a better understand of polyamory. Slow Fires is also a great book if you would like to learn about pottery; all the characters in it have some creative input into the pots they make and after reading the book, I found myself eager to grab some clay and throw a pot of my own. This is definitely a book for those who would like a enjoyable but educational read.

For readers who do not like m/f/m and m/m scenes, this book is best not to be read. Although the scenes are written in a delicate and loving way, some readers might find them offensive. I personally loved Slow Fires; although polyamory is a still seen as a bit of a taboo subject, Ms. Black has produced a wonderful book worthy of being read over and over again. I will definitely be looking out for more of Ms. Black’s books.
