A Place to Call Home
Becca Singer is a woman who needs help with her little girls. She just found out about Double H and a long lost brother but she is missing something from her life. Her little girls are the most important thing, but she misses the love of a man. Her ex-husband treated her like crap and never paid any attention to her other little girl only wanting the perfect one. You see Becca has one child that has cystic fibrosis and another one that is to others healthy and perfect, something her ex-husband wants to take away from her. Because of him she’s weary of finding a man who can love all three of them for who they are and not what they look like. Well that was until Slade Martin comes into the Double H looking for work. She’s not known to let someone give her charity so she works harder than everyone else trying to prove something to herself. The question is are they all being played by this new worker or is Slade really the man he claims to be?
Slade Martin is a man on a mission: to find the brother he never knew he had until now. What he didn’t expect upon finding work at the Double H was to fall in love with a little girl and her mother. He feels a connection to his little brother that died young in Becca’s little girl. The problem is that he came to work as a hired hand but deep down he’s a doctor who is haunted by one person’s medical condition. Can he prove to Becca that he loves her and her daughters or will he lose the one chance of having a family that he loves with his whole heart?
I loved this story so much that Leanne Karella is a favorite now for this reviewer. She writes each character with so much warmth in them that they sound real to readers. Her imagination brought the ranch to life and the people that loved Becca’s girls. I loved Slade for here was a man who was enchanted with the daughters and never let his love for their mother interfere with loving the girls. Each chapter you can tell they were getting closer but Becca is a strong woman and like every strong man Slade definitely is a perfect match for her. Great job, creating such a romance with true family warmth yet maintaining the sexual chemistry between Becca and Slade was a beautifully done in this romance.
