Tempted
Elizabeth Grayson is set to get vengeance on the men that belittle, batter and kill their wives like one did to her sister. She’s determined to never fall for a man no matter how many seasons her parents tell her to attend to. Each man she comes across only want thing, the woman’s dowry. One man is tempting her to dream of romance, marriage and a family someday. Christian Delaford is different from the men she has seen but she’s not sure whether she can trust Christian. Her whole life since her twin sister died she has had one goal in her life and that was to make sure no other women falls prey to a man’s hand. What she didn’t expect was to start feeling attracted to Christian for she thinks she just plain not beautiful like the other women out this season. Yet when she is with Christian something unusual starts to happen to her, Elizabeth starts to fantasize a life with him something that has never happened before.
Christian Delaford has had his share of women but none tempt him like Elizabeth Grayson. Seeing her face a ball of people while an angered ex-brother in law threatens her has made him realize that this is a strong woman. Someone wants to kill her and Christian knows that it is up to him to make sure that the woman he loves is protected at all times. No one told him that with her it will be an adventure in life.
Vengeance can sometimes be a cruel thing to have in one person’s life; Elizabeth Grayson is the right woman to know how bad this can turn out. Rita Thedford has created a woman with courage, beauty and most of all a heart. I felt sorry for Christian Delaford for this man is smitten with love for her yet she denies the attraction. I loved that these two had matches against one another yet the passion was still there from the first page when they first meet. As historical romances go I have to say that this is one that truly shows romance, courage and a woman’s goal to see that other women are not treated badly like her sister was when she was alive. Though there are some things in the story that the reader might not take down for example a woman badly burned, there is courage that women should have even now and back then.
