Jock Dorm: Drew and Vince

Jock Dorm: Drew and Vince by Bobby Michaels is the second book in the Jock Dorm series.

Arriving at State University, Drew has very mixed emotions. Drew is excited about the new time in his life, but he has many past wounds from his life at home to deal with. Drew and his brother Gregg grew up in a very restrictive home where anything deamed inappropriate by their parents' church was unacceptable, especially being gay. They went so far as to disown Gregg and try to turn Drew against him. They never realized that Drew is also gay and when the guys finally got back together, Drew decided to leave home early and return with him to college.

Arriving on campus, Drew found out that he is rooming with another Jock, Vince, who he has had a crush on since he watched him wrestle. Vince is very handsome and everything that Drew has ever wanted. Unknown to Drew, Vince has already talked to Gregg about being gay and asked Gregg if he had a brother. Vince wants the same committed, loving relationship that Gregg and his lover Dar have. As the days go on, Drew settles into college life except for his feelings for Vince that continue growing stronger. As school fell into full swing, Vince became distant and withdrawn from Drew. Vince finally talks to Drew and confesses his love for him. The love scene between Vince and Drew is hot and poignant. The feeling of love and understanding between Drew and Vince is easy to see. Vince shocks Drew when he proposes, but Drew is surprised when Vince’s brother, David, the priest arrives with congratulations and acceptance of their love. Life has many things in store for them beyond what they could ever imagine.

Mr. Michaels has written a story that is not only a very beautiful romance, but follows the growing and changing relationship between Drew and Vince. They are initially surprised that their feelings are mutual, but once they realize this they quickly and openly explore them. Vince isn’t your average jock. and he is willing to show and acknowledge his feelings to the world. Drew’s home life was very difficult, but he is willing to take a chance and finds the love that he has always wanted. The issues that Drew and Vince face are universal but most people don't respond with such open and caring attitudes. Vinces family's initial reaction to their relationship runs the gamut from positive to negative, but love can accomplish miracles. Mr. Michaels created a very wonderful book about two people who are willing to put everything on the line in spite of the odds. I hope that Mr. Michaels will continue the Jock Dorm series.
