Lord and Master

Lord and Master by Jules Jones is a homoerotic contemporary romance.

Mark is a graduate student who on the advise of Sanjay, his advisor, goes on a job interview that will change his life. Sanjay tells Mark that a friend of his, Steven, is looking for a Personal Assistant(PA) with a scientific background to hire. Mark meets Steven and he realizes that Steven is everything he wants in a man. Mark finds older men that have power but are still sensitive to others a huge turn on. Mark decides to take the job in spite of his growing feelings for Steven. Mark and Steven quickly realize that the attraction is mutual, but they keep things on a professional level to maintain an unencumbered working relationship. Other people at work quietly question their relationship, which Steven finds funny. Sanjay tells Mark and Steven that he didn’t set them up because he felt that they would make a great working team, but if more developed beyond their working relationship, he would be very happy about it. Will Mark and Steven ever have more of a relationship beyond just at work? Will other people at work cause problems between Mark and Steven? Was Sanjay right that Mark and Steven would make a great pair?

Jules Jones created a fun and intricate story that holds the readers interest from the very beginning. Taking the idea about sexual harassment and changing it around so that Mark is the target and how both Mark and Steven deal with it adds to the overall plot line. Then to that add Steven’s illness and how Mark reacted to it, which only made the story better and more compelling. Mark showed that if you truly love someone then no obstacle is to too difficult to overcome. The close relationship and love shown between Mark and Steven was very heart warming. Steven was on the surface the stronger of the two, but when problems arose Mark took care of Steven and proved to Steven that he could be loved for who he really was. Thanks goes to J. Jones for writing such a heart-warming book.
