The Strength of the Pack by Jorrie Spencer is a great beginning for her new Strength series. Jamie Buchner is a single parent to her son Andreas, her divorce has been final for awhile now. Jamie has moved back to her hometown to give Andreas family and stability because his father has become scarce since the divorce. With her son spending the night with his grandparents, Jamie takes a night out for herself and heads to a bar to pretend to be wild, even if only to herself. Seth Kolski sees his teenage crush from years past and sends her a drink, he has kept up with Jamie through the years and he has always had feelings for her, even though he feels he can’t act on them. Seth’s early years were abusive and anything but stable and with the secret he is hiding he feels he is not worthy of Jamie. They come together for the wrong reasons and it ends badly. Their one night has repercussions and Seth will have to bare all.

Jorrie Spencer has written an enthralling story, I started The Strength of the Pack and couldn’t put it down until the very end. Her characters were totally involving; you felt their heartache and disappointment, as well as the joy and caring they resonated with. I enjoyed book one in the Strength series and am looking forward to The Strength of the Wolf.
