Hugh McTavish has been searching for his brother for a long time. Now, after many years, he has finally found his nephew, Blain, but has also learned of the sudden deaths of both his brother and sister-in-law. Blain is also very ill, and Hugh knows that only Shayla will be able to save him, but for her to do that, Blain needs to learn the truth about himself and his parents.

The Gazing Globe is the second book in Candace Sams’ Tales of the Order series. This time the story revolves around the high sorceress Shayla. This novel allows the readers to learn more about the origins and the traditions of the Order. It also allows the reader to follow the younger members of the order as they try to come to terms with their powers and learn how to harness and channel them.

Once again Ms. Sams has produced a wonderfully textured novel that will have readers on the edge of their seats. As a reader, you will find yourself wondering just what will happen next and how the main characters will solve the problems facing them.

I really enjoyed reading this book, which although isn’t as action based as the first book from the series, is nevertheless brilliantly written and fast paced with some fantastic characters. I am looking forward to seeing where Ms. Sams will take the series next.
