Violet Moons

I loved Violet Moons by Nina Nash. I admit it; I am a big fantasy romance fan. I get lost in imagined lands, completely unknown peoples and the lure of the improbable. Unfortunately, frequently the stories in this category are more ridiculous than fantastic. Not so, however, in this case. This story not only promises, it delivers. Ms. Nash has done an amazing job with this offering.

When Wathalia, one of the three princesses of Vestia, volunteers to journey to the kingdom of the north, to a people who are rumored to be hard-headed as well as hard-hearted, she knows that this is her destiny. She knows, also, that the very existence of her people depends on her ability to bring back the magical circlet of power. It is the one item that replenishes the force needed for life in Vestia.

Along the way to the other kingdom, Wathalia contemplates her current situation. She has promised to consider a matrimonial offer from a worthy man, a man who would make a suitable match for her but who could never fulfill the longing of her heart. For quite some time Wathalia has been having dreams of a man who makes her heart swell and this man is not the man whose offer she considers. But she wonders if the man of her dreams exists anywhere but in her mind and heart.

The quest for the circlet brings Wathalia into contact with all manner of enchanting creatures and beautiful forest settings. It gives her the opportunity to prove that one woman, alone, can save many. And it brings another person into her life, a person whose face she knows from her dreams. He is the man whose face is hauntingly familiar.

When Wathalia meets Priam, some questions are answered. Others are created. The handsome man has a journey of his own to make, a destiny to fulfill. Will the two be able to combine the needs of their kingdoms while staying true to their hearts? Or will their secrets tear them apart?

Violet Moons by Nina Nash is impossible to put down. I read it from beginning to end, and then went back and read it again! It is an excellent story, absolutely wonderful. There is a cadence to this book, a steady rhythm to the author’s words that is almost hypnotizing. It is soothing and thrilling all at once. Through clever writing, Ms. Nash pulls the reader into an imagined world filled with singing plants, talking dragons, and a love story that is intensely satisfying. I would love to see a sequel to Violet Moons. Or even a whole series!

Nina Nash has a new fan here. I heartily recommend reading Violet Moons. It is a keeper!
