Preconceived Notions
Tiffany lives a different life than a lot of women. She got pregnant when she was a very young girl and a lot of people think that she is living with her mother to keep from working. She goes to school full time, has the afternoons and weekends off to spend with her daughter and works nights. However, she does have a job, and it probably wouldn’t be so bad except the job she has is as a night club dancer at the local city bar. Things change for Tiffany when she meets a new guy in town, Marcus.
Marcus has only been in town for a few weeks when he sees Tiffany get run down by an elderly woman in the small town. He offers her and her daughter a ride back to their home. He fixes dinner for them and they become friends. Marcus has a secret of his own that he does not want Tiffany to know about. When he discovers what she does for a living he really does not want her to know about his profession. Will this secret draw them together or will it push them apart until there is nothing left?
This book was a bit different than the type that I normally read. It lacked a lot of the sexier stuff that I normally read, but I loved the message behind the words of this story. Here was a woman who did not have the means to earn a lot of money, but had a “different” way to earn the money to support herself, her child, and her mother. I admire the way that she took the opportunity to make the money without actually doing anything that she considered unethical. This book definitely goes to show that not everything is as cut and dry as we all think it is.
