The Accidental Countess
Colleen MacGregor was facing a huge decision; should she help the man who fell in the snow in her field or not? There was a huge snowstorm coming, and she knew that if she didn’t get him help he would die in the snow, however, she also knew that if they were together and were found, there would be dire consequences to be faced by her. Colleen could not leave the man to die in the field, so she helped him. She knew that he was a gentleman by his clothing and by his speech, but when she found out that he was next Earl of Penwyth, Sebastian Ware, she was flabbergasted. When the snowstorm ends and the local vicar comes in and finds them together, they are forced to wed. Colleen goes along with it because of Sebastian’s plans that will help her to get out of the marriage; however, things do not always go exactly like they plan . . .
Sebastian Ware cannot believe that he is actually going to have to be the Earl of Penwyth. He always thought that would be taken care of by someone else in the family. Now that he has married and plans on returning to London, his mother and sister have found him and have informed him that his uncle and his cousin have both been buried and the title really falls to him. This is not exactly what he has promised Colleen. After his return to London, he discovers that someone may actually be trying to kill him, so now his has to watch out for himself and for Colleen. He has now discovered that the spinster who found him in the snow is actually the most beautiful woman in the world, and he hopes to spend the rest of his life with her, providing he can live to do so.
Hats off to Melissa Schroeder for one of the most amazing books that I’ve ever read. It was full of enough suspense, romance and humor to set the book writing industry on its ears. Just when you thought you knew exactly what would happen, Ms. Schroeder would throw in something else and make you rethink the whole plot of the book. There was a heady amount of attraction between the two main characters and enough fascination to be found in Sebastian’s younger sister that I look forward to seeing a lot of this family in future books. I gladly give this book a 5 angel and Recommended Read review.
