Torrid Tarot: Sword and Crown

Rhea has spent fifteen years in exile on Earth. Forced there by the ones she loved and trusted the most she has been isolated from the magic that sustains her and the people that should have stood by her. Now the time has come when those same people are forced to ask for her help. The Nameless has become more powerful and has begun a sickening thrust against the wards and safeguards that have become lax in peace.

Jaac has been working for fifteen years to return Rhea to the fold that she should never have been thrust from. He blames himself for her treatment and wishes that there was a different reason to call her home. Being a pragmatic man he won’t let that stop him from trying to show her what he should have so many years before; his love.

These two are forced to fight an invisible foe that can tear their world apart and destroy everything. In the midst of war, can love bloom?

Lauren Dane has brought to life yet another amazing story. The world that she’s built is real and consistent to the point of allowing me to become lost in it. I was pulled in by the characters and the vivid descriptions that I have come to expect from her. Rhea had been hurt and embodied the Queen of Swords extremely well. Jaac had the perfect balance of stubbornness and sensitivity to make him an awesome hero. As I often say with her books, I hope that there will be many more stories to read based in this universe.
