Blood Red, Chronicles of the Cursed: Book 1

The word “forever” is one that Mikael De Wohlf knows all too well. His sire wanted Mikael to be with him for all eternity, but Mikael stopped that by ending his sire’s life. After five hundred years, Mikael has become weary of killing and ravishing young women. Basically, his un-dead life has become dull. But ever since Annabella Micelli started working for him, things are looking up. If only she would accept him and the love he can give her, his world will have meaning again.

Annabella knows what Mikael is and can hardly keep her feelings for her boss a secret. The only thing holding her back from being intimate with Mikael is the fact that not only is he one of the most blood thirstiest of all vampires, but his jaded view on life saddens Annabella. But finally one night, Annabella can no longer deny her attraction for Mikael. She is willing to spend the night in his arms, rather than working. But what she doesn’t expect is that Mikael wants her to be his forever and perhaps have children with her. Annabella must decide whether to give up her mortality for an immortal one with Mikael who could be as close to the prince of darkness as you can get.

Blood Red is just a small taste of what Aline de Chavigny can deliver. This apparent first book in the Chronicles of the Cursed series should wet the appetite of any vampire fan. Mikael is very seductive and a bit stubborn in his ways, and Annabella is no wilting violet when around him. She is strong and just as stubborn as her counterpart. In these short pages, the reader is welcomed into the vampire world, and when Mikael and Annabella profess their love for one another, the angst and bloodshed Mikael has to put up with on a daily basis takes over in the perfect way.
