Lon James was once married to Misty, a beautiful woman who found Shadow in the woods, starving and desperation for money and human contact. Even though fairies were not to be trusted, Misty confided in Shadow and they grew closer through the years. This prompted Lon to start relying on Shadow. In no time Shadow felt a part of the family and worked hard even proving to be a great asset to the team. Then things suddenly changed when Shadow’s people killed Misty and Lon lost the love of his life. Shadow grew to love Lon, even though he was her employer and knew he could never have feelings for her. As the years pass, it appears the two seem to need each other, but deciding who will make the first move may not be an easy decision.

Love in Shadow is a well-written tale. The story is sweet and full of romance, and even while recalling Misty, and her involvement in the storyline, the reader gets a feel for her and the way she meets Shadow. I thought the characters really indeed made the story complete the way each have a certain connection in bringing out their best. With a strong cast and good dialogue, Sonja Foust creates a delightful page-turner with realistic problems as everyone tries to find a solution to make life better. This is a wonderful fantasy that shows how true love often gets past any hurdles in one’s path to last forever.
