Savage is the second book in the Zinah series, following the first book which is called Forbidden. While I would suggest reading these books in order, mainly because they are both very good, it is not necessary to read Forbidden to understand Savage. Savageis the Zinah Anleeh’s story. He is going on a mission to his homeland, Den, and will take Siara with him, but only after he trains her, which is something he is not sure he wants to do. Siara and Anleeh find a way to learn from each other and share more than sexual encounters. They accomplish the mission but at a price.

Lila Dubois does an awesome job pulling the reader into the world she has created. I was enthralled with the first book in this series and equally enthralled with this one. There are a couple of points that push the level of credibility, even in a fantasy novel, but they aren’t so blatant that I felt pulled out of the story. The world she has built is interesting and believable. The characters of Siara and Anleeh are realistic enough that I felt deeply for their plight. I wanted them to find happiness but was never quite sure if they would or not. Their emotional interest in each other and their mission is deep and stirring. Savage is a book worth reading more than once.
