Fire and Rain
Fire and Rain is the sequel to Ascension and can be read independently.
For the past year Julia, now Rain Foster has been hiding from her past. Refusing to comply with her father’s restrictions, Rain decides to run away from the only life that she has ever known in order to pursue her dream of painting and freedom to be with whomever she wishes instead of settling for an arranged marriage. So, Rain maintains a low profile, determined never to be found by her father or her approved husband-to-be. Everything was going well until Rain met and instantly fell for Laurent Cole. Then, before Rain knew it her dangerous, secret past finally caught up with her causing major havoc over her newly found happiness.
Hungry, Laurent Cole and his Alpha stop at a local café for breakfast. Upon entry, Laurent notices Rain across the room and instantly knows that she is his mate – human or not, Laurent sets out to claim his woman; which proves to be somewhat difficult especially when he is a werewolf and she is a human who has no idea that werewolves even exist. As the third in command for the Cherchez Wolf Pack, Laurent is used to proctoring those whom he cares for and accustomed to facing any obstacles head on that might come his way. So, when someone from the past threatens his mate, Laurent will stop at nothing to keep her safe from danger.
Fire and Ice will take you on an emotional rollercoaster expedition filled with an abundance of spine tingling twists and turns. There were moments were I was laughing with joyful glee, times where I was caught up in sweltering heated desire and instances where I was weeping uncontrollably. The smooth-flowing plot was solidly written and truly believable. Here was an intelligent, strong, independent and rightfully so frightened woman who was determined to escape the evil clutches of her past. While, the hero was your typical domineering alpha-type male that showcased stubbornness, loving affection towards his mate and a magnitude of strong-willed support during a devastating event; however, he was also flexible when it came to his mate objectiveness to his domineering ways. The countless sexual encounters between Rain and Laurent were lustily hot, passionate and down right naughty at times – so much so that I found myself blushing on more than one occasion. Fire and Rain is a thrilling, engrossing story that is too hot to miss! Hopefully, Lauren Dane will continue writing exciting stories surrounding the Cherchez Wolf clan.
Note: This novel does contain a mild ménage a trios scene.
