While on the way to his arranged marriage, Raynor awakens to find himself a captive. He has no idea who has taken him or why. He soon finds out that he is going to pay for his past mistakes in a most uncomfortable way. Years earlier, Raynor, Duke of Walcott taught a lesson to a comely maid that he had found spying in his room. In order for him to be set free he has to promise his captor to never treat his bride-to-be in the same way.

Raynor has always intended this wedding to be in name only, so he is able to easily make the promise.

Then Raynor meets his new bride, Catrina, and all thoughts of leaving any time soon desert him. Raynor is surprised to find there is quite a lot more to his new wife than he could ever have imagined. He vows love will never factor into his life.

I thoroughly enjoyed The Spying Maid. It kept me wondering what the possible outcome could be. The unexpected twists were captivating. I really didn't know what to expect next and was definitely thrilled with how the story unfolded. This book sizzles with unrestrained lust. I found Raynor to be a very complex character that grew on me as the story progressed. Catrina added a great dimension to the twists in the storyline by being a complete surprise at every turn. Lillith Payne pens a great erotic story.
